For Breeze Entryways:
All Breeze and Light Breeze doors have hinges, catches and latches associated with the retractable screen operation. We refer to these pieces as the “Breeze Hardware.” “Decorative Hardware” is the term used to describe the operating system for the door itself (latches, deadbolts, knobs, levers, handlesets, and gripsets.) If you are purchasing your hardware here, then we will endeavor to match your Breeze Hardware finish. Otherwise, you must choose a finish for the Breeze hardware.
- US3 – Bright Brass (Polished Brass) – Shiny gold.
- US5 – Antique Brass – Dull or blackened gold.
- US10B – Oil Rubbed Bronze – Brown.
- US15 – Satin Nickel – Light gray.
- US15A – Antique Nickel (Pewter) – Dark Gray
- US19 – Black
Not all hardware pieces are available in all colors.
While you may choose a handleset, knobset, or individual decorative hardware pieces, it is important to know that, with rare exception, you cannot use a lever on the interior surface of the Breeze door. It will impede the action of the hinged panel. You must choose a knob or grip on the interior surface. All of the hardware companies that we sell offer at least one knob design that is friendly for arthritis sufferers or those that find it difficult to turn a round knob.
You may use a lever on the Light Breeze door in most situations, since the lowered panel is generally above the latch hardware.
For All Entryways:
Each hardware manufacturer has its own finishing techniques and colors. Not all of their designs are available in all of their colors. We will guide you if the need arises. Not all decorative hardware manufacturers make hinges or accessories, so we will attempt to get the best color coordination that we can from alternative manufacturers.
If the decorative hardware is purchased through us for a prehung unit that we are building, there is no installation charge. This can amount to a significant savings. We are willing to install hardware provided by the client. This could happen if we don’t offer the brand you want or if you are providing antique or custom hardware. In this case, installation charges will apply and will be proportional to the difficulty of the installation.
If the decorative hardware is not provided, we cannot provide a complete installation. However, we can perform basic prep for five common hardware types: Hardware Prep
If your door is “slab only”, we should not prep or install decorative hardware. This process should be performed by the installer on-site after the door is sized and fitted into your existing jamb so that the hinges and latches are of the proper type and will align with the jamb’s existing hinges and strikes.
It is possible for us to perform a Match, where we prep hinges or hardware to your specific measurements, however we cannot ensure a perfect fit. Small fractions of an inch can have a negative effect. We typically advise against this procedure.
The chart below compares the most popular hardware lines we represent. The higher quality (more expensive) hardware lines can take several weeks for delivery, so it is wise to make your hardware decisions relatively early in the process to avoid delays later.
